Being Authentic
the love will come back to you, I promise.
If Ted Mosby from How I Met your Mother can make the universe rain, so can I. (Honestly, at this point in my life, its me and my sitcoms against the world) Anyways, there is one thing I have learned today: Love loudly. Having a heart is nothing to be ashamed of. Do the grand gestures. Do the little things too. It all counts for something. Going back to the plot of one of my favorite episodes from How I Met Your Mother, Ted learned, or dare I say -- mastered -- a type of cultural dance that had been used by indigenous tribes to call upon the rain in times of need. However, Ted needed the rain for a very different (and perhaps trivial) reason. He needed the rain because the rain would stop the proclaimed "love of his life" from leaving on a trip with another man. Ultimately he was successful on his quest in making it rain and getting the girl of his dreams. This storyline satisfies doubts that make me think that my efforts in life won't be rewarded, because in one way or another, they will. I've been reminded, and would like to remind you as well, that wearing your heart on your sleeve and doing the big things can be deeply fulfilling; even if you don't get a happy ending like Ted (in that particular episode at least), its a worthwhile experience. In a way, it's a means of being authentically yourself, and if anyone doesn't appreciate that then you know you're in the wrong place.
